The Friends of the Bourbonnais Township Park District was established as a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization to provide dedicated support for the park district's mission of serving the community. Recognizing that public funding alone couldn't always meet every need or opportunity, community leaders came together to create a foundation that could accept tax-deductible donations and build sustainable funding for special initiatives.

From its inception, Friends of the Bourbonnais Township Park District has focused on two core priorities: providing scholarship opportunities to help families access park district programs, and enabling capital improvements and special projects that enhance the park experience for everyone.

The Friends of the Bourbonnais Township Park District operates as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with its own board and financial accounts, working in close partnership with the park district to support its mission. This separation allows us to accept tax-deductible charitable donations and build sustainable funding for initiatives beyond the park district's regular operating budget.

Our board works directly with park district leadership to identify where support is needed most, whether that's scholarship assistance for families, upgrades to facilities and equipment, or special programs and events that serve the community. This collaborative relationship ensures that every dollar donated through this foundation directly benefits park district programs, facilities, and the families who use them, expanding what's possible for our community while maintaining the accountability and transparency that donors expect from a charitable foundation.
